A post about simple pleasures

Here are some of what I consider to be life’s simple pleasures. I realise not all of them are relevant to all people in all places in all times, but that is the nature of pleasure. It manifests differently for each of us, and that is ok. In fact it’s good. Imagine if we all only ever always enjoyed marmalade. Or if everyone only enjoyed giving…back-scratches, but never getting back-scratches. It’d be impossible. The system works because we all like different things. There’s more than one way to enjoy.

So, things that I enjoy:

a pen that writes really finely and smoothly

a cup of earl grey tea with cream

a nap on the beach in the shade

being the only one swimming in the pool

a pull-through parking space

using a SUPER sharp knife that cuts through produce like butter

a song coming on the radio that EXACTLY matches your mood

a perfectly ripe peach

when an animal wants to be close to you

falling asleep on the dock in the sunshine

when someone gets your joke perfectly

eating something you’ve grown from seeds

water floating your hair while you lay in a back float

when a song comes to an end just as you arrive at your destination

when you chose the right size container for something on the first try

the sound of wind in tall pines

a lay-down hand

when someone else prepares a meal for you

painting over something a dramatically differently colour

and of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the greatest pleasure of them all…

… a bite of fine dark chocolate.

Here are some of the pics of the above-mentioned pleasures. You’ll work out which one is which.
The creamy cup of tea. Great read as well, if you’re interested!
I love horses in all contexts, but especially when they come over to check me out at the side of the road!
Strawberries. Yummy!
